At IFCEE 2018 in Orlando, FL Comacchio presented its CH 450 in LHR (Low HeadRoom) configuration, designed for the construction of bored piles in challenging access sites with a headroom as low as 9.2 m.
The CH 450 LHR has an overall height of 9150 mm. Equipped with a powerful 190 kNm torque rotary head, it can drill piles up to a diameter of 1800 mm and up to 23.15 m depth. The rig’s compact size and lightweight design (40 t operating weight) allow for easy transportation with the Kelly bar mounted. The rig is completely self-erecting, thus considerably reducing rig up time.
Due to its flexible set up, the CH 450 LHR can be converted to a standard overall height of 19.8 m, using a mast extension and a 5100 mm stroke crowd cylinder, reaching 62.9 m pile depth (with 5 x 13.5 m self-mounting Kelly).
The CH 450 LHR highlighted at IFCEE featured a CUMMINS QSB 6.7 engine delivering 201 kW (270 HP) power and complying with the latest EU Stage IV/US EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards.
