Operators’ safety and the new European standard EN 16228 were the focus of attention at the recent Intermat show in Paris. Always involved in health and safety issues, Comacchio gave evidence, thanks to the synergy with the historic French dealer Eurofor, of its commitment to providing concrete solutions to the industry’s latest safety challenges. All the drill rigs on display were equipped with protective cages specifically designed not only to meet the requirements of the new safety standard, but also to ensure the operator, within the limits of the new restrictions, handiness and productivity.
All this with particular regard to foundations equipment, represented by 3 MC line rig models, some of which already known to the public, as the MC 3 D, but also new proposals, such as the MC 6 and the MC 15, both displayed in “HT Line” version, with new generation engines Step 3B / Tier 4 Interim.
The fair was also an opportunity to present the latest redesign of the GEO 300, dedicated to geotechnical engineering. But the absolute novelty introduced by Comacchio in Paris and very appreciated by the public was the CPH 1.1 – a rod and casing handling device mountable on small excavators. The creation of automatic handling systems improving operation safety is in fact one of the main trends of the industry in recent years, and the introduction of new safety standards is along these lines. Developed as a stand-alone accessory, the handling system for excavators CPH 1.1 can be used with drill rigs of any size and, unlike rod carousels installed on the machine, it is less subject to weight and loading capacity restrictions. The CPH 1.1 is able to load and unload rods and casings of variable diameters from 60 to 200 mm, up to 3000 mm in length, and can be used either with single rods, for open-hole drilling techniques, or with a combination of rods and casings, for cased systems.
